From identification exercises to certifications

KomBioTa coordinates various educational formats – from identification exercises and summer schools to certifications in biodiversity and taxonomy – and has set itself the goal of creating and continuously developing academic educational programs in the field of species knowledge.

Summer School "Research meets Conservation Practice"

Is there a need for taxonomists outside of science? Which species groups do you need to know? What do future students need to be prepared for? Where do they have career prospects?

In the KomBioTa Summer School, PhD and Master students can learn about practical and applied species knowledge, get to know the most important species groups relevant to planning and learn the methods of identification and recording together in the field. The diverse flora and fauna of the Federsee Station of the Tübingen Zoological Institute can be explored in a relaxed atmosphere. There is also plenty of opportunity to exchange ideas with other students.

The KomBioTa Summer School is offered every two years. We publish the date and the opportunity to register in good time on this website at Upcoming dates.

Botany Exercises

How can plant species be identified in the field? What should you pay particular attention to? And how do plants change at different times of the year? To find answers to questions like these, you need a trained eye and in-depth knowledge.

KomBioTa offers courses to learn about species knowledge and thus gives students the opportunity to develop their knowledge of species. For example, there are identification courses on species groups from the world of plants, insects, birds and reptiles.

Register for these courses via Ilias or HohCampus.

We look forward to welcoming all interested students!
