Around the world, many species are becoming increasingly rare and even extinct. This is worrying because the diversity of species forms our ecosystems, which are the basis of our existence. They provide us with fresh air, clean water and our food and ensure the decomposition of our organic waste. Together with climate change, the biodiversity crisis is therefore the greatest threat to the future of humanity.
The aim of KomBioTa is to promote biodiversity in teaching and research. In research, we analyse biodiversity at all levels, from genetic diversity to species and habitats. In teaching, we train species experts for nature conservation authorities, expert offices, nature conservation organisations and schools. Because only those who know species can protect them.
