More Than Honey: Wild Bees, Honeybees & the Hidden Battle  [25.07.25]

Movie Screening & Discussion on Bee Diversity

On Wednesday, 25 June, KomBioTa hosted a special NBS101 event (Session 4) at the University of Hohenheim as part of the Horizon Europe eNaBlS project, and what a lovely and thought-provoking gathering it turned out to be!

We kicked off with screenings of More than Honey and Bee extinction: Why we're saving the wrong bees- two compelling documentaries that explore the complex relationships between bees, agriculture, and biodiversity. These films sparked lively conversations about pollinator decline, food systems, and what Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) can mean in practice.

As the sun set, we walked together to a garden outside next to the bees, where bee expert- Lelend Gehlen led a captivating discussion on wild bee conservation. With picnic blankets and popcorn in hand, participants reflected on the delicate balance between profit and protection, and how everyday actions can support urban biodiversity.

A huge thank you to all who joined us, engaged with curiosity, and helped make this event both inspiring and grounded in shared learning.
