We’re excited to share that our very own KomBioTa manager, Ann-Catrin Fender, was recently featured on the EU podcast Just Europe in the episode titled “Keep learning! – everyone on board for a just transition.” The episode explores the crucial role of lifelong learning in driving Europe’s green transition, spotlighting a range of EU-funded projects working to build skills and capacity in sustainable practices.
Among the projects highlighted was eNaBlS, coordinated by Hohenheim, which is transforming university campuses across Europe into living labs focused on nature-based solutions. The podcast team visited one such lab in Thessaloniki, Greece, where professional women in STEM are leading efforts to integrate biodiversity and sustainability into policy and practice. Ann-Catrin highlighted the importance of education in this process: “Adult learning is one of the key factors which enable the green transition because you need people who are experienced in these green jobs but also additional people who have to be educated in some basic understanding of the green environment to enable this transition as a society.” With seven living labs across diverse European settings, eNaBlS aims to build lasting networks that will continue advancing nature-based solutions in higher education and vocational training beyond the project’s duration.
