Four KomBioTa doctoral students successfully complete their doctoral examination in 2023 [18.12.23]
KomBioTa congratulates the next generation in species knowledge and wishes them all the best for the future!
The doctoral period is characterized by many hurdles and hardships. It is a time in which you deal very intensively with a research topic, gain valuable experiences and knowledge, and in which you significantly develop your own personality. In particular, scientific and solution-oriented thinking remains forever and forms the foundation for your future professional and personal life.
Last year, a total of four young species experts within the KomBioTa network were able to complete their PhD period with a successful doctoral examination:
Viktoria Ferenc, who completed her doctorate under PD Dr. Christine Sheppard on Performance of and interactions between multiple co-occurring alien and native plant species, completed her doctorate in the summer.
Iris Häusermann successfully completed her doctoral thesis European population genomic differentiation and dispersal pattern of the invasive beetle Anoplophora glabripennis with the defense under Prof. Martin Hasselmann.
In September, Jessica Awad received her doctorate hat. She completed her doctorate thesis on Integrative Taxonomy of Platygastrine Wasps of Germany under Prof. Lars Krogmann.
Shortly before the end of the year, Dominic Wanke, who studied Lepidoptera at the Natural History Museum Stuttgart, defended his doctoral thesis Integrative taxonomy, systematics and biogeography of geometrid moths in a Middle Eastern biodiversity hotspot under Prof. Lars Krogmann.
KomBioTa congratulates the graduates on their success and wishes them all the best for the future!
