Second KomBioTa Professorship started in February  [28.04.25]

Ricardo Pereira takes up his position as Professor of Biodiversity Monitoring at the University of Hohenheim's Center for Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy.

In February, Prof. Ricardo Pereira was welcomed as the new Professor of Biodiversity Monitoring at the University of Hohenheim. Alongside the Professorship for Integrative Taxonomy, which is headed by Prof. Christian Rabeling, his position is the second research and teaching position in the Center for Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy, which was established at the University in cooperation with the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart as part of the State's Taxonomy Initiative to further promote biodiversity.

Ricardo Pereira's research and teaching activities will focus on understanding how genetic and phenotypic variation within species enable species to multiply and persist amid environmental change. By applying genomic tools to museum and monitoring collections, they aim to provide insights into the drivers of change in genomic diversity over time, and inform conservation strategies.

The new KomBioTa professorship is financed by state funds.

We wish Prof Ricardo Pereira every success in his upcoming projects!
