Hands-on Research at the KomBioTa Spring Meeting  [23.04.24]

On Wednesday, April 17, more than 50 species knowledge experts met at the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart with the aim of exchanging about ongoing activities and results within the KomBioTa ecosystem. 

A keynote talk that was given by Prof. Christian Rabeling was followed by a series of presentations on current research projects. A total of 11 specialists gave insights into their activities. For example, the Living Labs promoted in eNaBlS were presented, in which stakeholders within our society can jointly develop ideas to stop biodiversity loss and climate change. The integration of scientific collections in universities and the development of a European graduate school, which is being pursued in TETTRIS, were also showed. There were also given insights into the FLINT research on biotic interactions on fitness in study systems, as well as into the activities regarding amphibian, botany and paleontology.

In addition to the scientific presentations, there was plenty of time for intensive discussions and a lively exchange about ideas, which certainly helped to promote one or two new ideas or collaborations.

This year's Spring Meeting showed an enormous diversity and the positive development of the Competence Center for Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy, which has been committed to strengthening biodiversity and taxonomy research since 2021.
