Prof. Stephan Dabbert presents KomBioTa at the ICA Rectors and Deans Forum in Lithuania
Stop species loss, foster biodiversity! This is one of the most important goals of our society. For that reason, representatives from around 50 European Life Science Universities met at the ICA Rectors and Deans Forum from 19 to 21 October 2022 at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas (Lithuania). This forum is organized annually by the Association for European Life Science Universities (ICA) with the aim of bringing together rectors and deans from partner universities and facilitating a direct exchange on activities in agricultural and natural science teaching and research.
Prof. Dr. Stephan Dabbert, Rector of the University of Hohenheim, also took part in the meeting. As a milestone, he presented the Center for Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy with its visions and the biodiversity enhancement initiatives realized so far. Besides, he was elected as a board member of the ICA.
The representatives developed strategies for the fostering of biodiversity through education and knowledge assurance and summarized them in a Communiqué. This communiqué addresses the role of European life science universities in protecting and enhancing biodiversity and was published with a view to the UN Biodiversity Conference in Montreal (Canada) in December 2022.
