On Monday, October 10, the first meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Competence Network for Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy (KomBioTa) took place. The virtual exchange was the first getting to know of the members as well as a first discussion about goals, target groups and central visions of the network.
The KomBioTa Scientific Advisory Board consists of stakeholders from education, conservation associations, state ministries, universities and specialized planning agencies. During the meeting, the panel focused primarily on the future development of KomBioTa and exchanged views on the current state of species knowledge.
Tina Roth, biology teacher and subject advisor at the Center for Teacher Education in Stuttgart, was elected as chairwoman of the advisory board. Sibylle Hepting-Hug from the Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Management will assist her on a deputy basis.
The Scientific Advisory Board advises the KomBioTa Board and Office on fundamental strategic and conceptual issues. It consists of a total of 14 recognized experts, who are convened for three years. The panel meets twice a year to discuss the tasks of the network.
