Boys Day 2025: Discovery tour into the world of plants and biodiversity [09.04.25]
Courious boys came to the Hohenheim campus to lern new things about biodiversity and species knowledge - KomBioTa coordinated the fully boocked workshop for career day.

This year, the Center for Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy (KomBioTa) was again delighted that the workshop at the nationwide Boys' Day on 3dt April was fully booked within a short time. Twelve boys from grades 7 to 9 took the opportunity to explore the University's green campus and spend a morning learning about species. They were able to experience how important this knowledge is for the future of our planet in our today's world.
Under the guidance of environmental educator Claudia Preker and the Master's student Niclas Magnussen, they considered where we encounter biodiversity in everyday life and started on a botanical exploration tour in the Hohenheim gardens. They identified numerous native plants and focussed on the details of various species.
This knowledge was further deepened in the teaching kitchen of the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics. The boys made a healing ointment from their collected flowers, which they were allowed to take home as well as a lot of information about research projects in promoting biodiversity that the scientists in the competence center are driving forward.
