KomBioTa researchers and students recently participated as volunteer exhibitors at the Parcelsus Gymnasium Open House, engaging students, families, and staff with a variety of hands-on science activities. Prof. Dr. Christian Rabeling, Dr. Simone Cappellari, Kruthika Aragam, Margaret Eppli, Dr. Robert Gliniars, as well as students Anna Hauprich and Nadin Kovacevic, worked together to create a diverse and interactive experience for all visitors.
From tasting honey and peering into a bee hive, to learning about taxonomy using simplified identification keys and identifying native amphibian species with scientific models, each station offered a unique insight into biodiversity. Participants followed clues to discover how ant species are differentiated, and even took on the role of a pollinator searching for their target flower by using scents.
The wide variety of KomBioTa activities captivated everyone - from schoolchildren and parents to the staff of Parcelsus Gymnasium. Both the school director and staff expressed enthusiasm for future cooperation with KomBioTa.
