At the University of Hohenheim, certification courses for obtaining the BANU* Certificate Silver are offered by the Hohenheim Gardens and the Center for Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy (KomBioTa) in cooperation with the Academy for Nature and Environmental Protection of Baden-Württemberg.
The event, titled "Knowledge – Qualification – Certification for Biodiversity," allows advanced botany enthusiasts to have their expertise certified.
Participants need solid species knowledge, an understanding of ecological relationships, and the ability to identify habitats to obtain the BANU* certificate. These skills are essential in many fields where nature and the environment are subjects of research, evaluation, planning, and conservation.
By obtaining a field botany certificate, you demonstrate your botanical expertise and position yourself for involvement in national, regional, or local environmental projects. Acquiring these skills requires years of field experience and identification practice.
Key aspect of the BANU* Silver certification is the knowledge of 400 vascular plant species. The use of images and herbarium material is allowed when fresh material cannot be provided due to species protection or seasonal limitations. For the identification section, analog and/or digital identification keys may be used.
Please bring the following materials:
- A hand lens
- Analog and/or digital identification keys
